Sole Check

If you are lacking distance and correct direction maybe you are not letting the club do the work. When you hold the club with the light amount of pressure the club can swing with maximum speed. The club will also maintain a square face when steering hands are not controlling it. Hands that are too tight on the club will restrict the arms from traveling in unison with the body. This will transmit tension through the arms and into your swing.

To discover the right amount of hold on the club, begin at the address position. To accomplish the lighter and right amount of pressure on the club include this tip in your pre-shot routine. The wrists will be supple and promote a good one-piece takeaway.

Set up with proper posture, alignment and grip - add the following:

   -  Raise the sole of the clubhead above the ground so it only lightly touches the top of the blades of grass.

   -  Feel the club hang with its’ own weight; maintain firm, not tight hold of the club.

   -  The sole of the clubhead will feather the blades of grass, giving feel and awareness of the right,

      lighter grip pressure.

   -  Now you will sense a free transition from backswing to downswing. You will realize it is easier to

stay relaxed and balanced through out the whole swing.

   -  Enjoy better golf shots.
